The Governor of Katanga. On his right Mbuyu Minister and President
Assembly Prov. Katanga

We do not forget an equally impressive list of both civil and military authorities which we include among others, the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Representative of the Head of State, the Governor of the Province Katanga, Mr. Moise Katumbi Chapwe, the Governor of the Province of Ecuador, the President of the Provincial Assembly, ambassadors, senators, deputies, etc..
catches words began, in part, Homily by His Eminence Cardinal. Without wishing to shoot in length (which has attracted the admiration of listeners), the Cardinal has identified the context of this ceremony in the minds of readers of this 4 th Sunday in Ordinary Time A. The essence of the message, addressed specifically to the new Archbishop, is summed up in the verses of the Beatitudes: "Blessed are the poor in spirit ... Blessed are those who suffer for justice, Blessed ... But also in these two verses e 1Cor 1.26-31 Reading: "God ... chose what is weak in the world ... to confuse what is hard .... " The Cardinal made its message through these verses to challenge our Company Congolese often tempted by corruption and the easy acquisition of wealth.
He paid tribute to Bishop Songasonga "the former priest of Lubumbashi, then Bishop of Kolwezi and finally Archbishop of Lubumbashi, has successfully carried out his vocation as a pastor." He also thanked him for his commitment to the Episcopal Commissions.
He congratulated Monsignor Jean-Pierre Tafunga for his new charge. He urged him to teach time and time against the truths of the Gospel. The word of God can not be chained, "he said. He recommended the new Archbishop in support of the Virgin Mary.
Before the final blessing (and before the rain suddenly dispersed the meeting), several other speeches were read: Speech by the Representative of the Clergy of Lubumbashi, the President's speech CENCO, Message of the Abbot Secretary ACEAC the word very pathetic and especially the delegation of the Diocese of Uvira Tafunga Bishop came to exercise his ministry as Bishop last, after the Diocese of Kilwa priests Uvira were visibly very marked by the passing of Monsignor Tafunga as Bishop: "You were really a man of God, for your 6 years in Uvira," they said.
Among the highlights of the ceremony, there was, of course, the rite of installation after the homily of Cardinal : reading the Bull of Pope Benedict XVI Profession of Faith, oaths, and installation in the chair, " the cathedra of the archbishop.

Bishops at the altar

The ceremony gifts to the Archbishop intervened in the latter part of the mass. She took a long time before moving with the words: cows, goats, motorcycles, bicycles, money, freezers, fridges, lounge, desktop effects, etc..
In the end, the rain came we sprayed his blessing to mark the return of the faithful. Everyone could go back home, keeping the heart in the recollection of a grand ceremony which probably will be told to future generations: Lubumbashi just had his 4 th Metropolitan Archbishop. Alain Ket Kalenda

UNIVERSITY IS BORN KOLWEZI

"No major city without a university. The day of 13 January 2011 which officially dedicated sees autonomy UNIKOL is a date that will be marked in golden letters in the annals of the University. "

Rector delivering his speech
This is how the Rector of the new University of Kolwezi (UNIKOL ), Professor Ipanga Tshibwila , began his speech to announce the birth of this new institution separated from the University of Lubumbashi (UNILU). The official handover ceremony of the autonomy of the University of Kolwezi and the inauguration of its Rector, therefore held on 13 January in the great hall of the College Blessed John XXIII in the presence of the Legal Adviser and Representative of the Rector of the University of Lubumbashi, the Deputy Mayor of the town of Kolwezi, the Chiefs, several guests and students. Moments earlier, a handover to the office of the Rector (who has succeeded himself), had Devers done by the General Counsel of UNILU.

The Rector and the Management Committee. On his right: The
Counsel UNILU
lectern at the ceremony, several speakers were to succeed: first is the Legal Advisor of the Rector of UNILU who took the first speech to read the Minutes of the Declaration of independence University of Kolwezi. The monopoly period of three Universities in Congo is over, "he said. Therefore, he said, the UNILU totaling 55 years since its establishment by royal decree, has started granting autonomy to Extensions university attached to it. He listed nine including the Kolwezi. He then returned to the attributes of the new Rector, namely, a large symbolic key and gown. He also introduced the new management committee consisting of a Secretary General Academic (Professor Kasongo) an Administrative Secretary General (Dr. Kisenge) and a Director of Budget (Head Works Ms. Kunda).
The Rector of the UNIKOL then took the floor: he started by thanking the various actors in the creation of UNIKOL. Then he circumscribed sense of empowerment a University: "Autonomy means , does not depend on another University. Clearly the University of Kolwezi is independent addition to the University of Lubumbashi. It deals directly with the guardianship which is the Ministry of ESU in Kinshasa, he said. " The Rector did not forget to mention the difficulties is, here and already confronted the young University: insufficient audiences, lack of laboratory and libraries, lack of operating costs, lack of teaching staff drawn, non-mechanized staff, lack of carting automotive. At the end of his speech, he invited countless mining in Kolwezi (The Mining), local partners, mine operators and economic, various mutual socio-cultural and all people of good will, to kindly attend the UNIKOL in buildings that are already underway to Musompo at the entrance of the town of Kolwezi (coming from Lubumbashi), to provide the UNIKOL real buildings.
The Deputy Mayor, Mr Deodat Kapenda wa Kapenda, borrowing expression in cadastral subdivision and in a metaphorical sense, dwelt on the development of real this institution that we just tear: Teachers, Heads of Works, Wizards and students must combine their efforts in their own areas to make efficient the University: "Children should be better than their parents": it must be the case of the Unikol born UNILU said essentially telling the mayor.

Model of the University of Kolwezi

Note that Unikol is today ' hui housed in the premises of a former high school called small Bebyati. These premises which were added a few others have been refitted to serve audiences. But then this is a far cry from the tinkering of the standard rooms of a real university. Therefore the UNIKOL wants to move Musompo where the Provincial Governor, Mr. Moise Katumbi Chapwe has graciously granted 100 hectares of land not yet fully recovery.

The UNIKOL under construction on sites Musompo

Here field will be built progressively entire University of Kolwezi, namely the Central Administration, audiences, laboratories, and the homes of students, the residences of the academic authorities and staff, sports fields, etc.. Already, the Provincial Government of Katanga finance work including cost, for this first phase of construction, totaled $ 750 000.

HISTORY UNIKOL
History of the University of Kolwezi begins in 1997 when UNILU Rector, Professor Kakoma SAKATOLO ZAMBEZE at the request of notables and Kolwezi Kolwezi Civil Society, has agreed to open the Extension of the University of Lubumbashi to Kolwezi.
However, there is indeed a prehistory that. From the colonial period to the years 1958 and 1959 the idea of implementing a university in Kolwezi had already germinated. In 1960 it becomes effective when created the Extension of the University of Lovanium in Kolwezi. It was led by the Franciscan HANSEN RP. This Extension has worked in the College facilities Baldwin 1 st (Current Lualaba Institute). It lasted only the time of a dream: a single year. The events in the aftermath of Congo's independence forced officials to close its doors.
In 1984, the Rector VUNDWAWE TE Pemako revived the project of a university setting in Kolwezi: they created what was called "mobile university . This initiative was taken over by the Rectors BINGOTO MANDOKO NAMPEYA, LOMBEYA Bosongo and ALONI Komanda. The University operated until 1989, still on the premises of the College (Institute Lualaba). But this work is finally revealed as a failure: it failed, because a local coordination to host and mentor teachers, all from Lubumbashi. Among the organizers of this structure in Lubumbashi, we find Professor NSAMAN OLUTU, current head of the main CEPROMAD.
In 1994, the Higher Institute of Medical Technologies (ISTM) from Kolwezi, created first on private initiative, was incorporated into the UNILU as Rector Kilanga Musindi.
Only then in 1997 the creation of the Extension of UNILU Kolwezi will be a decisive departure for this university. The UNILU will rely on partnerships with various social Kolwezi which mainly Catholic Church, Gecamines and politico-administrative authorities. But there was also the participation of Protestant Churches, Orthodox and Kimbanguiste. Which allowed the extension of UNILU Kolwezi to return to the College facilities and occupy several buildings of Gecamines.
In 2004, the Extension has acquired, under the Rector UNILU, Kaumba LUFUNDA PRINCE status UNIVERSITY CENTER KOLWEZI (CUK), for a decisive phase Autonomous University. This was enforced by the Ministerial Decree No. 1 of MINESU/CABMIN/ESU/090/2004 st / 10/2004, establishing the University Center as a public institution of Kolwezi.
BEBYATI, a former high school became
Centre Universitaire de Kolwezi

Prime Director of Extension (DIREX) of UNILU in Kolwezi was Professor Ordinary NDUA Solola. on equity of the institution, the Management Committee headed by NDUA SOLOLA could purchase buildings of a former high school "BEBYATI" to make the temporary website of University Kolwezi. Under his direction were also acquired the current building housing the library and other rooms on the Avenue Maduda (6 th Avenue), the Guest House on the Avenue of the Residence and Lusanger Housing Director of Extension. Which helped to ensure, so far, the visibility of the Centre Universitaire de Kolwezi.
In March 2009, Professor Charles arrived IPANGA TSHIBWILA. He will lead the Centre Universitaire de Kolwezi its autonomy to become the University of Kolwezi, September 27, 2010 by Order Ministerial No. 157 / MINESU/CABMIN/MML/EBK/PK/2010 of Minister Mashako Mamba LEONARD. The new DIREX, concerned about the vitality of the institution will engage in pharaonic construction work at the University of Kolwezi. Strong financial support from the Provincial Government of Katanga, which has awarded the UNIKOL the tidy sum of 750,000 U.S. dollars, Direx IPANGA, later September 27, 2010 the first Rector of this University, will give the entire amount to the local mining company "Kamoto COOPER COMPANY (KCC) to begin construction.
TYPE OF LESSONS AND STAFF
The UNIKOL organizes several courses of study. These include the Faculties of Law, Economics and Management, Medicine, Geology, Agronomy, Letters (Information Science and Communication), Psychology and Sciences of Education, Social, Political and Administrative, Polytechnique and Ecole Public Health. It should be noted that the Faculty of Medicine was closed by the Ministry of Higher Education and University since the year 2009 due to lack of laboratories.
Centre Universitaire de Kolwezi had in his time, organized a Extension to Kasaj Lualaba in the District. Decision of the Minister of ESU (Higher and University Education), the university will no longer operate from the year 2010 due to its non-viability.

full-time teachers are the number of 78 including 1 Professor, 1 Professor, 2 Heads of Works and 74 Assistants. To these we must add more than 80 agents classified staff Part-time teacher from the Magistracy of Gecamines and other mining companies Kolwezi and several visiting faculty composed of professors and associate and also Heads of Works. There are more or less than 57 administrative staff.

The number of students increased from 1,200 in academic year 1997-1998 to 2400 for the year 2010-2011.

Foresight: The University of Kolwezi will radiate

Scientific publications are in the Annals, brought the baptismal font on August 15, 2009 by the city authority of Kolwezi in the presence of Authorities UNILU's academic: to date, 4 numbers are already out.

Rector Ipanga visit constructions

After 13 years of existence, the Institution University Kolwezi is expected to shine in Congo, Africa and around the world: it is at least the ambition to give itself in this day of the official proclamation of its autonomy as a university Kolwezi, UNIKOL. Long life. Abbé Alain Ket Kalenda
